I remember growing up at the hockey rink, cheering my brother on as he played several times a week. We made noise makers and special cheers. I had a lot of friends at the arena.

This was my first hockey game ever so I was pretty exited! After the game finished, I was so happy that this was my first time watching a real hockey game. I was so thrilled that the Bulldogs won 1-6 against the Rochester Americans.

I remember that last year bulldogs didn’t win but luckily I met really good friends in the mean time. I even met Tarandeep who was in the hockey game!

    I try my best…

In the book, The Greatest Goal, Paul’s Dad says, “I try my best but it doesn’t always work out the way I would like.” Has there been a time when you tried your best but it hasn’t worked out the way you wanted it to?

    • Kyle Hagel 9:40 pm on November 5, 2012 Permalink | Reply

Last season things did not go the way that I wanted them too. I signed my first two-way NHL contract with St. Louis and spent all summer training to try and get my shot at the NHL. I knew that I would be in the AHL most of the year, but if I worked hard and stayed healthy I’d have a chance of getting called up. Seven games into the season a injured my shoulder badly and had to miss the whole year. I had two surgeries. It sucked and I was disappointed but looking back now, it afforded me new opportunities. My shoulder was hurt but my legs were fine, so I trained for a marathon and ran one in April. That was a “bucket list” check mark that I’ve always wanted. Then this summer I got great news that I was getting a fresh start in my hometown of Hamilton playing for the Bulldogs. It didn’t turn out the way I wanted, but like the Rolling Stones song says:”You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find…you get what you need.”

Oh boy, I just re-read that last post. I should’ve given it a proofread. Kids please don’t make the same grammatical mistakes. First sentence should be *to not *too. There’s another spot in there where I typed the indefinite article ‘a’ when it should be the personal pronoun ‘I.’ Let this be a lesson: always proofread to ensure the best possible grades.

All apologies. Need to set a better example lol.

One time when I was five years old I entered my first singing contest and it was infront of maybe 100 people and I was so scared! I was singing Frosty the Snowman and I wasn’t very good at all so I just started doing them more often and now I am great!

O.K. I have made millions of mistakes and sometimes I try to do my best. One time I was trying to get on my older sister’s bike and I tried my best to get on. Once I got on I told my sister, once she came, I tried to get on her bike, I got on I rubbed it in my sister face because we had a bet that if I got on the bike she would have to do the chicken dance until my parents came home. After 10 seconds I fell off the bike hard on to the floor. My sister and I were laughing so hard, but I was still in pain. That is how I tried my best but did not plan in the right way.

For example, I try to try my best in hockey or basketball and it doesn’t always work. For example, we might lose. Although things might not work, it great to be trying your best.
